What we did
The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, and its flagship project The New Climate Economy, were set up to help governments, businesses and society make better-informed decisions on how to achieve economic prosperity and development while also addressing climate change.
HabitatSeven led user research, design, and back-end development for the New Climate Economy’s flagship reports.
The challenge was to create a content delivery system that allows the World Resources Institute to publish new reports year over year in an engaging and interactive way.
User research and strategy
The biggest challenge for stakeholders was being able to get to specific parts of the report that are relevant to their work.
UX design
The inspiration for the site design was based on the idea that users would define themselves based on the sectors they worked within. As such, the design allows users to navigate to content specific to economic sectors.
Social Media Integration
The site structure was built so that every piece of content could be bookmarked and shared within various communicates of practice. This allowed the communications team at WRI to continually share content long after the launch of the reports to ensure they remained relevant over time.
Full stack development
A web stack was used that included MySQL for storing all the data, a custom data management system, and WordPress integration.
