Climate change is having a major impact on rural communities in Africa. Africa Adapt was developed for a network of people who work on the impacts of climate change in Africa in order to help them share knowledge, successes, and lessons learned.

There were several objectives for this website. Technologically, it had provide a user-generated content interface while running on low-bandwidth 56k modems and computers with processing power dating back to the mid-90s. In terms of its user interface, it had to be navigable enough to attract a large user base.

Since its launch, Africa-Adapt has attracted over 25,000 users and is one of the largest climate change adaptation portals in the world.
